Pastor Bruce Callahan and his family arrived in Redondo Beach, California in 2002, after being on staff as an evangelist for six years at The Door Christian Fellowship in Tucson, Arizona. Prior to that he pioneered new churches in Australia for 14 years and is committed to the "Great Commission" of going into all the world, preaching the gospel and raising up disciples of all nations. While much of the church world is looking for "better methods" we are still pursuing the Great Call and "biblical methods to be "better people" by becoming disciples and making disciples.
The Door of Southbay is a Christian Fellowship Ministries' Church (CFM). CFM, Inc. was founded in 1970 by Pastor Wayman Mitchell. A spiritual fire was launched that is spanning the globe. Now, over 2,300 churches have been planted in over 130 nations of the world with number growing daily. From that, crusades and conferences sprung up that are touching tens of thousands every year. This church is a product of that vision and is working to see it expanded in the short time that remains before Jesus' return. God has given us a vision for the day we live in. Our message is simple, yet it is the cornerstone of all truth. Jesus Christ is the only hope for man's salvation and that is true with every person in every nation on the globe. In a world full of empty dreams and false promises is a truth which grows stronger every year, and that is Jesus Christ and Him crucified!
In our local church, God has given us a powerful revival of men and we are obeying the command by Jesus in Matthew 28:19 to "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations..." As we have grown as a church, men have grown into leadership roles which have been the foundation of our Church council. Each of our Council members has been with us since at or near the beginning of our foundation and also play active roles in church ministry positions.
BRUCE & DALE CALLAHAN
Pastor Callahan and his family arrived in the South Bay to begin a new work for Jesus Christ in late 2002. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts and became part of a lost generation of "free love" gone bad. After looking for numerous answers and only finding more questions he became a Christian on June 16, 1979, on a beach in Western Australia with his girlfriend Dale who became his wife. "Jesus Christ has put our lives together and what HE puts together HE keeps together!!" They are both trained teachers and Dale is currently employed teaching first grade at the Carden Dominion School in Redondo Beach. They have three adult children .....
CHRIS & EMILY MARTINEZ
Chris and Emily have been an intricate part of The Door since it's beginnings. Their youthful energy and creativity have added a wonderful dimension to our church life. Whether it's through music in our scheduled services or live concerts in our "City Lights Cafe" or special events like our Halloween Play or Christmas play their desire to serve the Lord Jesus is a joy to behold and challenge to imitate. Chris has an AA degree in Business and is a Marine veteran of the Iraq war who knows the perils of the enemy and seeks victory in an even greater battle; the "war for souls". Emily is a graduate of the University of Arizona and is currently employed as an Executive Assistant at Fox Films.
